Saturday May 4th; Guest Artist Shawna Barnes: Part I
Join visiting artist Shawna Barnes for a 2 day sculpting workshop where you will learn how to sculpt one of four different animals. This workshop’s theme is “PETS / DOMESTIC ANIMALS”, and you will have the opportunity to sculpt a dog, cat, turtle, or a lizard. This is a 2 day workshop, occurring on May 4 and the 11, 1 – 5 pm on both days.
Day 1, you will learn how to find appropriate reference material, how to break down those images into basic shapes, and then start sculpting your small animal sculpture. Be thinking ahead and start collecting pictures for reference – this will give you more sculpting time on day 1! Sculptures MUST be complete by the end of day 1 so that Shawna can take them to her studio and fire them in her kiln in preparation for day 2. On day 2 of this animal sculpting workshop, you will learn several different ways you can finish your sculpture using oil or acrylic paint. You will be given a pine wood slab to be used as a base. By the end of day 2, you will have a finished animal sculpture!
$55 for all materials and course instruction per class.
