| Artist Statement Old homes have a way of softly whispering to those who enter. If you listen, you'll hear about the lives that were lived within her walls. The Victoria Mansion series evolved from an old historical home in Portland, Maine. The house has been vacant and decaying for many years, however the town has begun the journey of preserving the past. The series deals with the mansion as she sits in transition. Turning her face from decay and ruin to living and splendor once again. History and abandonment have marred themselves on the face of the home yet every once in awhile you'll see a glimmer of rebirth and renewal. You will witness a subtle whisper of what was and in a brief moment the spirit of the home reveals herself to you. The series is a set of 16 different prints photo-etched onto copperplates in ferric acid. Each print is than selectively hand watercolored with colors pertaining to the original home and printed on tan Rives BFK. Rebecca Krupke |
